Why Therapy is for Everyone...

Imagine knowing yourself in a completely new way.  Imagine feeling good about yourself more often than not. Imagine feeling prepared emotionally to cope with almost any situation this world can throw your way.  Imagine letting go of anger and really letting it go.  You don’t have to white-knuckle through these waters.  You don’t have to stand in front of a mirror saying nice things to yourself.  You don’t have to wait for other people to validate you and keep you feeling ok.

Affect in psychology means emotions or feelings. To borrow from Rollo May, late existential psychologist, “Affect is not something you strive for in itself but a by-product of the way you give yourself to a life situation.”  How do you give yourself to your life situations? How do you feel, in other words, what is your resulting affect in your life situations?

Therapy is for everyone because we ALL give ourselves to life situations… every day.  This is vastly different than looking at life as a series of circumstances that happen to usWe have the power to change how we feel because we can change the way we give ourselves. Using up to date methods I will show you how you can increase your life satisfaction in a very noticeable way by changing the way you give yourself to situations in your life.  Therapy is the best way to get to the heart of what you really want in your life and feel equipped to get it for yourself.

We often think, Isn’t it better for me to solve problems on my own
I don’t solve your problems for you. Rather, I will help you clarify issues so you CAN solve problems on your own. The goal of therapy is to make you more self-sufficient, not more dependent.  Becoming more self-sufficient is directly related to deeper self-understanding, in essence
knowing yourself better.  What a wonderful gift to give yourself.

I encourage you to contact me to find out how therapy can work for you in your life.
